The video above shows a world map with the location of all air plane crashes over the past 100 years including total casualty numbers.
Over that period just over 100,000 people have died in a plane crash. And while that sounds like a lot, 3 times more people die from drowning each year than have died from all plane crashes over the past century.
Data came from the ASN Aviation Safety Database and includes every registered plane crash (with known location) geolocated and displayed over time.
